Jan Linders (1963)

Supermarket chain Jan Linders is named after the founder of the company: Jan Linders. After being a milkman for some time, he opened a supermarket in Gennep in 1963. Nine years later, that store was followed by an opening of a branch in Venray. After that, the company grew rapidly, becoming a chain of over 60 stores, primarily located in Limburg and East Brabant. In this ‘home’ region, Jan Linders built a strong reputation and market position.

At the end of 2022, Jan Linders announced that it had struck a deal with Albert Heijn. Except for 11 locations, the supermarkets of the company will be converted to AH. This means that the Jan Linders brand will disappear from the streets, but it does not mean the end of the company. The deal with AH involves Jan Linders continuing as a franchisee of Albert Heijn.
