Aldi (1973)

In Essen, Germany, the Albrecht family laid the foundations for a customer-oriented business model more than 100 years ago.

The success story of ALDI (Albrecht Diskont) begins with a selected range of good quality products at the lowest possible prices.

In 1973 ALDI opens the first store in The Netherlands and the public is introduced to the discount supermarket. ALDI focuses on the essentials, on simplicity and offers more quality for your money. Everything is about making shopping as easy as possible. This saves not only time and hassle but also money. For decades, only a selection of the best products has been sold, presented in boxes. With more barcodes on each product, so that the store employees can do their job smoothly. ALDI also offers popular non-food offers, such as electronics. Many trusted ALDI brands have been part of the range since their introduction in The Netherlands and are still favorites with customers. Such as Château chocolate, Markus coffee and Una detergent. The packaging has moved with the times, but the products still have the same high quality with a competitive price as usual.

Meanwhile, ALDI continues to work on making shopping as easy as possible. In July 2022, the cashier-free test store ALDI Shop & Go will open for the discount lover of today and tomorrow. A few steps away from this museum, corner Oude Gracht/Lange Viestraat.
